Woman Treated for Hypothermia after Sleep Swimming
A late night swim led to the treatment of an Idaho woman for hypothermia. The 31-year old woman has had three incidences of being in a sleep like or trance state during the last five weeks.
Her husband called the authorities when she was missing during the early hours of the morning.
The woman could not be found and a sliding glass door was open, she was found by officials about a quarter mile from where she lived.
The woman had been swimming in the Snake River and was hypothermic, she was taken to a local hospital where her temperature was returned to normal. A psychological evaluation was ordered.
The evaluation determined that she was not a danger to anyone and she was released.
The more unusual form of sleepwalking known as sleep swimming is very rare.
